What it is
Dig! Dig! Dino! is a game about digging up fossils. You join a crew of animal paleontologists at three dig sites, uncover bones and artifacts square by square, and sell the treasure to upgrade your tools: a shovel, a drill, a radar and, per the store page, "a cute puppy". Each dig is limited by your energy, but there's no timer and no reflex test. The store page says it's "perfect to play while watching TV!" Complete one of the 12 skeletons and you can scan it in the lab. Along the way, strange artifacts and newspaper clippings suggest something odd happened to these dinosaurs.
It's by the duo Dom2D (art and design) and Fáyer (code and design), with music by Majo Félix. Digging mostly means repeated presses of A, and "crank use is minimal and without pressure". Reviewers put it at a few hours long. It's meant to be finished, not played forever.
Dig! Dig! Dino! opened Playdate Season Two on 29 May 2025 (Week 1) alongside Fulcrum Defender, and now sells for $9 in the Catalog.
